What’s New for the 2024 Kia Sportage in Albuquerque, NM?
The compact SUV category may be a packed segment, but that didn’t stop the 2023 Kia from being awarded the coveted Utility Vehicle of the Year in the 2023 AutoGuide Awards. It underwent a significant redesign as part of Kia’s global brand transformation, “Movement that Inspires,” and it delivers more for adventurous customers with a more capable off-road trim level, X-Pro, while also keeping savvy consumers happy with the Sportage Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid versions. Inside, you’ll find one of the most spacious interiors in the compact SUV segment, with two big screens as the focal point. So what’s in store for the 2024 Kia Sportage in Albuquerque, NM?
New for 2024
We don’t foresee any significant changes for the new model because it was given a total redesign for the 2023 model year. The Sportage starts at $26,290 for 2023 and is offered in seven trim levels, which include LX, EX, X-Line AWD, SX, SX Prestige, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige. The biggest news for 2024 is the 30th Edition variant introduced in its home country of South Korea. This edition commemorates three decades since the Sportage debuted and celebrates over six million sold models. We expect it to make its way stateside later this year.
Categorized as a “semi-midsize” model by the company, it boasts a more upscale look for 2024. One modification is double glazing for all door windows, which should yield a noticeably quieter cabin than before. Side airbags for second-row passengers make it safer than before and are standard across the lineup. The 30th Edition Sportage is based on the Gravity Grey version but with glossy black accents on the door garnish, roof rails, and side mirror caps. The dark look continues with the front grille, parts of the bumpers, and the 18- and 19-inch wheels offered on this unique model.
Inside, the Sportage 30th edition is decked out in a two-tone green and black motif exclusive to the model. It also has a new quilted pattern on the leather itself, and suede inserts, setting it apart from the leather upholstery in the regular model. An embroidered 30th logo on the front seats’ headrests adds even more flair to the special edition.
In addition to the Sportage 30th Edition, which is on sale now overseas, the company has put out a video that features the original 1993 Kia Sportage and the current 2023 model. There’s also a temporary exhibition of the 1993 and 2021 models sitting side by side at the Kia 360 Center in Seoul, Korea, and a digital display of the in-between generations introduced in 2004, 2010, and 2015.
